Book 4 for 2009
Icarus at the Edge of Time by Brian Greene, a physicist and author of The Elegant Universe and The Fabric of the Cosmos, is very quick (ten minutes?) to read and absolutely delightful.
The story is a retelling of the Greek myth of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun on wings made with wax, this time told in an outer-spacey sort of way and illustrating Einstein's Theory of Relativity. I suppose it's considered a short story - done in a boardbook format and illustrated throughout with stunning images from the Hubble Space Telescope.
Four and a half stars - do yourself a favor and find this book!
